Home Sweet Home Birth

It’s always fun to tell people that our daughter was born in her own room. Yup, Sage made her debut in a kiddie pool right next to her crib.

It was a lovely uncomplicated birth even though Sage did decide to come out sunnyside up. In other words, Sage was posterior which means that pushing her out took a little longer than expected. You can imagine our surprise when we looked down into the water and saw a little squashy red face staring back at us (is it staring if her eyes were closed?).

What a blessed relief it was to eat my birth-day dinner (a bleu cheese bacon burger, fries and a chocolate shake----Yes, we do eat those things sometimes) in my very own bed while Shane snuggled with Sage. Our midwives cleaned up, drove off and there we were alone in our home, a little family for the very first time.
