What's Really In Your Food?

We all know that Chinese food is a notorious source of MSG. But did you know that your chips, chicken broth, salad dressings, bread, tuna fish and even that fresh turkey you bought for Thanksgiving all contain MSG? No biggie you say. Well, hang on there...here's the skinny on what exactly MSG is:
  • Makes food taste good so that they can add less chicken to that chicken broth
  • Makes you want more...you know those times when you can't just have OREO or just one Dorito well it's because MSG is a chemical that causes hunger...profit drives production...the more you want it the more you buy it
  • A neurotoxin...in other words it's harmful to your brain. MSG is the suspected culprit in many of the neurodegenerative diseases that are so common today: Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Some other names for MSG: Hydrolyzed vegetable protein, natural flavors, spices, autolyzed yeast extract

P.S. If MSG wasn't harmful then it wouldn't need to be hidden under dozens of names! Find all the hidden names of MSG here.
