Homemade Fruit Fly Trap

One down side to all the fresh fruits of summer...fruit flies. Tiny but pesky and invincible...we couldn't seem to get rid of them. So we made a homemade trap (idea courtesy of google).
Here's what you'll need:
  • a baby food jar ( a very clean, non-smelly one)
  • small piece of banana
  • small square of plastic wrap
  • a rubber band
  • a pencil (sharp) or pen
Put the banana into the baby food jar. Cover with plastic wrap and rubberband it securely around neck of jar. Poke 4-5 holes with the pencil or pen. Put your trap nearby your fruit and wait (it took a full day for the flies to get interested in our trap). Empty outside every 3 days and start again.
